About - Warsaw

Warsaw, with about 1.86 million residents and the capital of Poland and Masovian Voivodeship, is the country's largest city — its administrative, financial, economic and cultural centre — and one of Central Europe's most dynamic metros. Strengths are impressive and often record-setting: POLAND'S HIGHEST business density at 3,098 REGON entities per 10,000 residents (100th percentile), 43,083 newly registered businesses per year (100th percentile), gigantic investment outlays of PLN 50.15 billion (100th percentile), 58 museums (100th percentile), 34 cinemas (100th percentile) and 62 cultural centres (100th percentile). Gross wages of PLN 10,715 (124% of the national average), unemployment of 1.5% (the lowest), 542 employed persons per 1,000 and 813.7 km of bike paths (10× more than smaller regional capitals). 17 Park & Ride lots, 73 km of bus lanes. 2,717 tourists per 1,000 and 190 hotels. Weaknesses: THE MOST deregistered entities (20,413, 0 percentile) — reflecting the huge churn — high housing prices of PLN 15,852/m² (2nd percentile) and an affordability ratio of 1.48 monthly salaries per m² (3rd percentile), low police effectiveness of 49.9% (5th percentile) and only 27.3 m² of greenery per inhabitant (6th percentile). Warsaw is Poland's economic phenomenon — a magnet for business and talent — at the cost of the most expensive housing and high life pressure.
